Country Artist Guy Clark

Releasing more than twenty albums during his recording career, Guy Clark won a GRAMMY for “My Favorite Picture of You” in 2014 – something that was a long time coming but meant a lot to him.

He was born in Texas, lived in Los Angeles for a time, and ultimately settled in Nashville, Tennessee. There he became the center of a burgeoning community of songwriters, along with his wife, painter and songwriter Susanna Clark. Over the years he mentored those courageous enough to bring him songs to consider, and many writers across the world consider Clark a great influence today.

His songs were recorded by many artists including Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Steve Earle, Kathy Mattea, Lyle Lovett, and Johnny Cash.

While Guy Clark passed away in 2016, his story continues. His songs are still recorded by artists today, and we continue to learn from his recordings, and from his life as recounted in the book “Without Getting Killed or Caught: The Life and Music of Guy Clark“ (2016) and the movie “Without Getting Killed or Caught” (2021). His entire workshop is currently on display in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
